Mai 2025 – Ein wichtiger Schritt für die digitale Energiewende: Robotron und PPC haben erfolgreich die Interoperabilität zwischen dem SMGWplus und dem robotron*GWA-Manager auf Basis der neuen Steuerungsprofile getestet. Grundlage waren die Standards für das Datenmodell an der WAN Schnittstelle des SMGWs, der DIN VDE V 0418-63-8. Damit werden Steuerungsvorgaben interoperabel und standardisiert an das Smart Meter Gateway übermittelt.

Das Quäntchen Plus mehr zum Standard
Bei der erfolgreich getesteten Lösung werden Steuersignale vom robotron*GWA-Manager entsprechend DIN VDE V 0418-63-8 an das SMGWplus übergeben. Nach der Übermittlung vom robotron*GWA-Manager erfolgt die Verarbeitung des Steuersignals direkt im SMGWplus. Anschließend wird es im EEBUS Format an eine steuerbare Anlage oder an ein Energiemanagementsystem weitergeben. Entsprechend den bundeseinheitlichen Empfehlungen des VDE FNN zur Ausgestaltung des EnWG §14a ist EEBUS Mindestanforderung an der Schnittstelle zwischen Steuerungseinrichtung des MSB und steuerbarer Kundenanlage. Das SMGWplus ist ein Softwareprodukt, das sich über ein Update auf alle SMGW der zweiten Hardwaregeneration nachrüsten lässt.
Die Steuerung über das SMGWplus wird prozessäquivalent in die bestehenden CLS-/aEMT-Landschaften integriert. Somit ist ein paralleler Betrieb von Steuerboxen, SMGWplus, CLS-Adaptern etc. in den Robotron-IT-Systemen möglich.
Durch die Lösung wird die Installation deutlich vereinfacht und dadurch der Steuerungsrollout signifikant beschleunigt. Aktuell ist die Funktion in der Test-PKI umgesetzt und für Piloten verfügbar. Auf Basis des im Schutzprofil PP-0073 V2.0 verankerten Functional Package „Power Limitation“ wird die Firmware zeitnah zertifiziert und ab 2026 für die Wirk-PKI zur Verfügung gestellt.
Die erfolgreiche Umsetzung der funktionalen Kette markiert gleichzeitig ein Highlight innerhalb der PPC connect Initiative, die 2024 gestartet wurde. „Ziel ist es, gemeinsam neue Anwendungen für das intelligente Messsystem zu erschließen“, so Ingo Schönberg, CEO der Power Plus Communications AG. „Und das immer mit dem klaren Fokus auf standardisierte Schnittstellen im Energiewende-Ökosystem. Nur gelebte Interoperabilität ermöglicht einfache Kundenpartizipation.“ Als Zeichen der erfolgreichen Zusammenarbeit zeichnete PPC im Rahmen des diesjährigen Kundentreffens vor über 250 Teilnehmern Robotron mit ihrem PPC connect Award aus.
Die Partner blicken voller Zuversicht auf die nächsten Schritte – weitere Feldtests und Partnerintegrationen sind bereits in Vorbereitung.

Mannheim/Dresden, 27 May 2025 – A significant milestone in the digital energy transition has been reached. Robotron and PPC have successfully tested the interoperability of SMGWplus and Robotron GWA Manager, based on the new control profiles. These are based on the data model standards for the WAN interface of the SMGW (DIN VDE V 0418-63-8). This means that control specifications are transmitted to the smart meter gateway in a standardised and interoperable manner.
This goes one step further than the standard.
In the solution that was successfully tested, control signals are transferred from the Robotron GWA Manager to the SMGWplus in accordance with DIN VDE V 0418-63-8. After transmission from the Robotron GWA Manager, the control signal is processed directly in the SMGWplus. It is then forwarded in EEBUS format to a controllable system or an energy management system. In accordance with the nationwide VDE FNN recommendations for designing EnWG §14a, EEBUS is the minimum interface requirement between the MSB control device and controllable customer systems. The SMGWplus is a software product that can be retrofitted to all second-generation SMGW hardware via an update.
Control via SMGWplus is integrated into existing CLS/aEMT landscapes in a process-equivalent manner. This enables the parallel operation of control boxes, SMGWplus, CLS adapters and so on in Robotron IT systems.
This greatly simplifies installation and significantly accelerates the rollout of controls. The function is currently implemented in the test PKI and available for pilots. Based on the ‚Power Limitation‘ functional package anchored in protection profile PP-0073 V2.0, the firmware will be certified in the near future and made available in the active PKI from 2026 onwards.
The successful implementation of the functional chain is also a highlight of the PPC Connect initiative, launched in 2024. “Our goal is to develop new applications for the smart metering system together,” says Ingo Schönberg, CEO of Power Plus Communications AG. “And always with a clear focus on standardised interfaces in the energy transition ecosystem.‘ Only true interoperability enables easy customer participation.” In recognition of this successful collaboration, PPC presented Robotron with the PPC Connect Award at this year’s customer event, attended by over 250 people.
The partners are looking forward to the next steps with confidence, with further field tests and partner integrations already in preparation.
