Our Smart Meter Gateway (SMGW) has received the type examination certificate from the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB). This confirms compliance with the requirements of the German Weights and Measures Act and thus, among others, PTB-A 50.8 for all required tariff use cases (TAF 1, 2, 6, 7).
The SMGW officially meets the legal metrology requirements for installation in digital electricity meters. In addition to the CC certification from the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), PTB-A 50.8 is part of the requirements set out in the Act on the Digitization of the Energy Transition that must be met by SMGWs for the rollout of intelligent metering systems. “The test criteria for the Smart Meter Gateway concern, among other things, the collection, processing, and storage of measurement data. Furthermore, the focus of the extensive testing procedure according to Module B is on the visualization of data via the TRuDI display software and the possibility of invoice verification for the consumer,” explains Christoph Leicht, Head of the Working Group for Electricity Measuring Devices and Systems at the PTB.
PTB-A 50.8 serves the legal metrology testing of the most important components of the intelligent metering system. In addition to the Smart Meter Gateway with a connection to a gateway administration system, the testing procedure also includes the use of the customer display via TRuDI and the use of a communication adapter. This allows electricity meters to be connected to the SMGW. With the release of TRuDI at the beginning of the year, the defined requirements regarding the customer display were already met. With the help of the software, the testing procedures and test runs could now be completed promptly.
