Broadband Powerline at PPC: Solutions for Your WAN Communications
PPC’s broadband powerline system transforms the power grid into an effective and secure communication platform for digital applications in the distribution network. All data is transmitted in real time, over an IP-based network, securely encrypted, and at broadband speeds.
The PPC BPL System
The components of PPC’s broadband powerline solution work seamlessly together to transform power grids into information superhighways. Our latest-generation system is based on the IEEE 1901-2020 (Nessum) standard —the most versatile, interoperable, and high-performance standard for broadband powerline.
Integrated, robust, and cost-effective

Install, connect to power—online. No time-consuming LTE reception testing, no expensive BPL add-on module. PPC’s BPL SMGW offers the most cost-effective solution for connecting to a broadband powerline network. Thanks to its repeating function, each BPL SMGW also boosts the network in which it is installed.

To ensure a stable BPL network, we recommend installing a repeater in every cable distribution cabinet. This strengthens the network. Thanks to its built-in sensor, each BPL repeater (sensor) measures the voltage across all three phases at the installation site in real time. This improves the monitorability of your low-voltage network.
Integrated, robust, and cost-effective

Want to connect additional SMGWs to your BPL network via Ethernet? With the Nessum 1T module , you can do it in a single step. Thanks to its slim DIN-rail design, the module fits right next to the SMGW.
BPL SMGWs, repeaters, and headends can all be conveniently monitored using the PPC Network Management System. Monitoring your communications network (including, for example, the communications modules of your LTE SMGWs) has never been easier.
Training and Support
We offer practical training courses to help you develop a comprehensive strategy and efficiently roll out broadband powerline technology. Our experts tailor their instruction to the participants’ individual levels of knowledge and answer your questions.
WAN-as-a-Service: Simplifying Your Network Operations
WAN as a Service enables network operators to delegate responsibility for the planning, deployment, and operation of their communications network to experienced specialists.
Coms4Grid, as a service subsidiary of PPC, brings extensive practical experience from successful customer projects, particularly when it comes to building large-scale BPL infrastructures for the smart meter rollout.
