Mannheim / Ludwigshafen, den 17.12.2025: Die Power Plus Communications AG (PPC) und ihre Tochtergesellschaft Coms4Grid sind gemeinsam mit der Pfalzwerke Netz AG erfolgreich in ein groß angelegtes WAN-as-a-Service-Projekt gestartet. Der Rollout begann Anfang Oktober 2025 und markiert einen wichtigen Schritt zur Digitalisierung der Energieinfrastruktur in Rheinland-Pfalz.

Bereits im Jahr 2025 sind die ersten 1.000 WAN-as-a-Service-Endpunkte in Betrieb genommen worden. Der weitere Ausbau erfolgt zügig: Für 2026 ist die Anbindung von 15.000 Endpunkten geplant. Aktuell befinden sich 5.000 Einheiten im Einbau.
In einem vorbereitenden Workshop vor Ort wurden die Monteure der Pfalzwerke Netz AG gezielt auf die Installationsschritte sowie mögliche technische Herausforderungen geschult. Coms4Grid stellt darüber hinaus nicht nur die benötigte BPL-Hardware und das Anschlusszubehör bereit, sondern verantwortet auch die technische Anbindung an den Gateway-Administrator (GWA) – ein Beitrag, der den Installationsaufwand spürbar verringert. Durch zusätzliche Serviceleistungen gewährleistet Coms4Grid eine fachgerechte Powerline-Installation und damit einen reibungslosen und zuverlässigen Betrieb. Zur netzseitigen Überwachung wird das PPC-Netzwerk-Managementsystem (NMS) eingesetzt, mit dem die gesamte BPL-Infrastruktur der neuesten Nessum Generation 6 und SMGW-Anbindung in Echtzeit überwacht wird. Monteure erhalten über die NMS Connector App Zugang zum NMS.
Der Rollout erstreckt sich über die Vorderpfalz in den Pfälzer Wald und Donnersbergkreis, darunter Römerberg, Limburgerhof, Harthausen, Kandel, Eußerthal, Trippstadt, Bann, Contwig und Rockenhausen. Damit schaffen Coms4Grid und die Pfalzwerke Netz AG eine leistungsfähige Kommunikationsinfrastruktur für die stetig wachsenden Anforderungen moderner Energienetze. Dazu sagt Roland Klaiber, Geschäftsführer der Coms4Grid: „Die zugesicherte hohe Konnektivität von mehr als 90% für die SMGWs im Keller stärkt die Effizienz und Resilienz im Rollout. Die technologische Basis und die gute Zusammenarbeit mit der Pfalzwerke Netz AG und Voltaris sind der Garant für einen erfolgreichen Rollout.“
Als regionaler Netzbetreiber bringt die Pfalzwerke Netz AG gemeinsam mit Montagepartnern die Monteurskapazitäten und regionalen Vor-Ort-Kenntnisse mit, die eine schnelle Umsetzung ermöglichen. Die Voltaris GmbH (eine 50-%-Tochter der Pfalzwerke Aktiengesellschaft) übernimmt die Gerätebeschaffung, die Qualitätssicherung (QS) sowie die zertifizierte Gateway-Administration und stellt damit zentrale Dienstleistungen und Expertenwissen für die erfolgreiche Umsetzung des Projekts bereit. Die Pfalzwerke Netz AG treibt die Digitalisierung für die Energiewende hin zu einem Smart Grid der Zukunft für Rheinland-Pfalz voran. Neben Breitband Powerline sind auch weitere SMGW-Technologien mit LTE und 450 MHz bei der Pfalzwerke Netz AG im Einsatz, um die Rollout-Vorgaben umzusetzen. In diesem intelligenten Netz werden Endkunden zu aktiven Partnern der Energiewende und profitieren von der Bereitstellung ihrer Flexibilität für Markt und Netzbetrieb.

Mannheim/Ludwigshafen, 17 December 2025: Power Plus Communications AG (PPC) and its subsidiary Coms4Grid, together with Pfalzwerke Netz AG, have successfully launched a large-scale WAN-as-a-Service project. The rollout began in early October 2025 and marks an important step towards the digitalisation of the energy infrastructure in Rhineland-Palatinate.
The first 1,000 WAN-as-a-Service endpoints were already put into operation in 2025. Further expansion is proceeding rapidly: the connection of 15,000 endpoints is planned for 2026. Currently, 5,000 units are being installed.
In a preparatory workshop on site, the technicians from Pfalzwerke Netz AG were given specific training on the installation steps and possible technical challenges. Coms4Grid not only provides the necessary BPL hardware and connection accessories, but is also responsible for the technical connection to the gateway administrator (GWA) – a contribution that significantly reduces the installation effort. Through additional services, Coms4Grid ensures professional powerline installation and thus smooth and reliable operation. The PPC network management system (NMS) is used for network monitoring, allowing real-time monitoring of the entire BPL infrastructure of the latest Nessum Generation 6 and SMGW connection. Installers can access the NMS via the NMS Connector app.
The rollout covers the Vorderpfalz region in the Palatinate Forest and Donnersberg district, including Römerberg, Limburgerhof, Harthausen, Kandel, Eußerthal, Trippstadt, Bann, Contwig and Rockenhausen. Coms4Grid and Pfalzwerke Netz AG are thus creating a high-performance communications infrastructure for the ever-growing demands of modern energy networks. Roland Klaiber, Managing Director of Coms4Grid, says: ‘The guaranteed high connectivity of more than 90% for the SMGWs in the basement strengthens the efficiency and resilience of the rollout. The technological basis and the good cooperation with Pfalzwerke Netz AG and Voltaris guarantee a successful rollout.’
