Moma – "Model City Mannheim" Research Project

Model City Mannheim (moma) is a research project under the German federal government’s E-Energy funding program. In three phases, the nine consortium partners in Mannheim and Dresden are testing the power grid of the future today and working to transform the conventional power grid into a smart grid.

Solution
Broadband powerline technology transforms the urban power grid into an IP-based, real-time communication platform that connects all households, distributed generators, and metering devices. The use of intelligent software (Energiebutler) enables efficient energy management in the home.
