Smart Metering Rollout with E.ON

In preparation for the rollout, E.ON’s grid companies are conducting field tests as part of the “EniM” (Installation of Smart Metering Systems) pilot project. Their goal is to gain experience with the use of smart metering systems.

In early 2017, E.ON will launch pilot projects for the smart meter rollout in four selected regions in Germany. In total, several hundred customers in the E.ON network areas served by its subsidiaries Avacon, Bayernwerk, Hansewerk, and E.DIS are participating in the project. The project uses smart meter gateways from PPC, which transmit data via broadband powerline or the cellular network.
