Why SMGW 2.0?
We are ready for the future and ready to deliver added value! The platform’s sustainability is also a key driver behind the development of our second-generation smart meter gateways. The SMGW 2.0 offers the performance needed to sustain the rollout and provides greater capacity for the agile further development of GNDEW-compliant features.
The latest draft amendments to the Measurement and Calibration Act and the Measurement and Calibration Ordinance have paved the way for an indefinite calibration period and, consequently, for the long-term operation of smart meter gateways. It is foreseeable that updates and new features will be made available repeatedly throughout the service life of the smart meter gateways. A high-performance hardware platform is an essential prerequisite for their use.
With the SMGW 2.0, PPC offers precisely this high-performance hardware platform, which meets current and future requirements and thus provides planning certainty, improved cost-effectiveness, and sustainability benefits. Furthermore, by strategically utilizing the latest and widely available components in our second-generation gateway, we are optimally positioned, as these new components are not only more powerful but also significantly more readily available on the global market.
Increased processor performance and larger memory capacities make it possible to respond flexibly to future requirements and new use cases. Optimizing the installation—through much faster booting and seamless connection setup—increases efficiency in the assembly process.
