Preparing for the Metering Rollout

Since the summer of 2014, SüdWestStrom, together with its partners—the municipal utilities of Schwäbisch Hall, Eutin, Tübingen, Bietigheim-Bissingen, and Bretten—has been gathering experience with the introduction of smart metering systems as part of a pilot project.

The project is designed to prepare participants for the smart meter rollout. To that end, the focus will be on testing how to use the hardware, the various communication channels, and the practical procedures.

region
Schwäbisch Hall, Eutin, Tübingen, Bietigheim-Bissingen, Bretten

Challenge
Preparation of the rollout, development of practical solutions, and testing of different data transmission technologies.

Solution
Testing of different communication solutions: mobile communications, broadband powerline and hybrid solutions for optimal preparation for the rollout.
