Intelligent interaction between vehicles, charging infrastructure, power grids and electricity markets is being developed.\n\nBidirectional electric vehicles can be charged and discharged in such a way that they serve the grid and\/or optimise the amount of energy from renewable sources used in the power grid. Currently, bidirectional electric vehicles used as mobile storage systems are not clearly regulated by law.\n\nThe research project \u201cBidirectional Charging Management \u2013 BDL\u201d is showing how the power and storage capacity of electric vehicles can be exploited in various use cases.\n\nThe solutions being tested in the project are intended to be holistic and user-friendly. Fifty BMW i3s will be used as test vehicles for the different solutuions.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c6ba5a8 elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"c6ba5a8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ppc.d-f.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Logo_BDL.jpg\" title=\"\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c1d30da elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c1d30da\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4>Communication via the Smart Meter Gateway (SMGW)<\/h4>\nThe solution cannot exist without a secure, compatible and standardised communication platform. Three components are integrated to create end to end communications:\n<ul>\n \t<li>OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) for communication between the wallbox and the backend system,<\/li>\n \t<li>EEBUS as the application protocol in the smart meter gateway, and<\/li>\n \t<li>The intelligent metering system (iMSys) comprising a smart meter and SMGW, for local communication.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\nA holistic, user-oriented offer for the integration of bidirectional electric vehicles into the energy system will be developed and tested.\n\nProject partners from the automotive industry, the energy sector and academia are designing this user-friendly, technical solutions for bidirectional electric vehicles. (FfE), Forschungsgesellschaft f\u00fcr Energiewirtschaft mbH, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), KEO GmbH and the University of Passau.\n\nPPC is supporting the project as Smart Meter Gateway supplier.\n\nBDL is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
